Small tools that fix messy spreadsheets
Startrace makes focused add-ons for Google Sheets. Each one does one job well, works only on the file you have open, and keeps your data inside Google.
Startrace Clean & Dedupe
Find duplicate rows that the built-in tool misses. Clean & Dedupe compares rows after tidying the text (extra spaces, upper/lower case, punctuation), so " Acme, Inc. " and "acme inc" count as the same.
- Choose which columns decide a match, for example just Email.
- Highlight duplicates, move them to a new sheet for review, or delete them and keep the first.
- Optionally fix extra spaces in the cells while you're at it.
How to use it: select your data, open Extensions → Startrace Clean & Dedupe → Find duplicates…, pick your options in the sidebar and click Find duplicates.

What the add-on can access
Clean & Dedupe asks for the narrowest permissions Google offers for this job:

Connect to an external service (script.external_request) | Only to ask startrace.me how many free runs you have left. No spreadsheet content is ever sent. |
